But it seems to me that if a computer isn’t reading DVD’s and doesn’t seem to recognize any DVD drives as, er, existing or being connected to it, something is wrong. The drive clearly spins the disc and does the same whirring routine it always does, there’s just no reflection that anything is happening in the rest of this three-year-old machine.
